Collepardo On the trail

The herbal and karst museum at Collepardo

Collepardo

Chiron the centaur was the one in the myths who knew which plants healed, and Collepardo named its museum after his garden. The Ernici slopes have been worked over by herbalists here for a very long time.

How the day goes

  1. Upstairs in the town hall, into rooms on herbal medicine and the plants behind it.
  2. The karst side: this is cave country, and the ground under Collepardo is full of holes.
  3. A reference library for anyone who wants to go further, on plants and on the local past.

A small municipal museum rather than a spectacle: it rewards curiosity about plants and limestone, and takes little time otherwise.
