A morning in the trees

Grottaferrata

The routes here are up in the trees. You put on a harness, take the briefing, then cross from trunk to trunk with the ground well below — a morning of doing something rather than looking at it.

How the day goes

  1. Harness and briefing first, on the ground, from the park's own people.
  2. Then up: platforms, crossings, and the wood seen from the height of its branches.
  3. The courses are graded, so a family does not all have to do the same one.
  4. Down again by lunch, with the whole afternoon still to spend.

All of it happens off the ground, so anyone who dislikes heights will not enjoy the morning — for a day that goes the other way, the caves under Orvieto are cool and level.
