Weekend course on the medicinal plants of the Ernici mountains

Collepardo

Collepardo sits under the Ernici mountains, where the woods climb to the Trisulti charterhouse. The course takes the plants growing on that slope and teaches you first to name them, then what people here have always done with them.

How the day goes

  1. Afternoons at a desk: botany, herbal medicine, and the plants passed round to be handled.
  2. Sundays out in the field, walking to the botanical garden and up to the Trisulti charterhouse.
  3. The same plant twice, then — once named on a table, once found growing where it belongs.

It spreads across weekends in spring and early summer, so if you want a single day out of Rome, this is not the shape of it.
