Off the beaten trails, where the snow is untouched and deep, snowshoes are the only way through. The guide teaches the technique at the start and nobody expects you to arrive knowing it.

How the day goes

  1. Snowshoes and winter poles come with the outing, cleaned between uses.
  2. The first stretch is learning to walk in them, which takes less than you would think.
  3. Then you leave the trail, and the Simbruini go quiet the way only snow makes them.

This is off-trail walking in deep snow and asks more of your legs than a marked path; the packed-snow outings on Livata are the gentler start.
