Norma On the trail

Ancient Norba, walking among the Cyclopean walls

Norma

Norba was destroyed and never rebuilt, so what stands on the cliff edge is the plan of a Volscian town: gates, terraces, and walls of blocks so large that people spent centuries inventing giants to explain them.

How the day goes

  1. Walk up through the woods above Norma at an easy pace.
  2. Come out at the megalithic walls, standing where they were left.
  3. Wander the plateau, with the plain and the Circeo far below the drop.

It is the gentlest of the Lepini walks: if you want lungs and altitude, Semprevisa goes up from the same side of the range.
