Monte Orlando rises straight out of Gaeta, and a Roman general's tomb sits on top of it. The shuttle takes you up, so the headland costs you a ticket instead of a climb.

  3. The mausoleum of Munatius Plancus is a drum of stone with the sea all round it.
  4. The rest of the park is yours to walk, downhill this time.

It runs on weekend days in the warm months only, so out of season the headland goes back to being a climb on foot.
