Apitherapy in the beech wood

Subiaco

The hives sit in the beech wood above Subiaco, and the treatment is the sound of them: you lie down over the boxes and let the hum come up through the wood, with the smell of wax and propolis in it.

How the day goes

  1. Up into the Simbruini beech forest, where the apiary stands among the trees.
  2. You settle in over the hives and stay still while the hum and the warm air of the colony work through the boards.
  3. A massage or foot reflexology added on, if you want the session to run longer.
  4. Back down to Subiaco, where the Benedictine abbeys are cut into the gorge above the river.

Bees are the point here, not the backdrop: if stings are a problem for you, say so when you book and ask how they handle it.
