Vineyard walk and tasting on the Via Francigena

Acquapendente

Acquapendente is a stop on the Via Francigena and pilgrims still walk through it. The vineyard is above the town, and the tasting begins out in it before dropping down into the old cellar.

How the day goes

  1. A walk through the rows, then down into the cellar that has been there longest.
  2. The tasting at a table, wines against a board of cured meats and cheeses.
  3. On the fullest route, into the barrel room, where reds are drawn straight from the barrique.
