Ancient olive trees on terraced ground With your hands

Olive harvest day in the Sabina

Tarano

Picking olives is what the Sabina does in early autumn, and for a day the grove opens to you. You work the trees with the people who own them, eat at their table, and go home with a bottle of the oil those trees make.

How the day goes

  1. Out into the grove in the morning, shown how it is done, then picking with everyone else.
  2. The day is run in English, so you can ask what you like about the trees and the oil.
  3. Lunch when the picking stops, sitting down with the people you have worked beside.
  4. Home in the afternoon with a bottle of their own oil in your bag.

The trees set the date, not the calendar, and it is confirmed close to the day — if your week is already fixed, save this for a trip with room in it.
