Tarano With your hands

Olive harvest day in Sabina

Tarano

In autumn the Sabina groves fill with nets and the sound of people working in the branches. This is a day inside that: you pick, and what you pick goes off to be milled.

How the day goes

  1. Out under the trees in the morning, picking alongside the people who own the grove.
  2. Sorting the fruit afterwards, choosing what is good enough to go to the mill.
  3. After the midday break, either a look inside the local frantoio or more picking.

It is a working day and your arms will know it by the evening, so if you only want to taste the oil, the shorter grove visit is the one to book.
