Sugared almonds since 1783: the Pelino museum inside the factory

Sulmona

Sulmona was making sugared almonds long before anyone thought to put them in a museum, and the Pelino family put theirs inside the factory. The copper pans that did the work are still standing upstairs.

How the day goes

  1. The first room: patents, honours, and the elaborate bomboniere of the century before last.
  2. Then the firm's own relics, kept the way a family business keeps its history.
  3. The reconstructed workshop, with the roaster, the polisher, the mills and the mortars.

Seeing the production floor itself depends on the day — ask at the door if that is what you came for.
