Vallepietra On the trail

Monte Tarino from the Vallepietra sanctuary

Vallepietra

The Santissima Trinità sanctuary is already high above Vallepietra, wedged in under a cliff. The walk starts from its car park and keeps climbing, away from the pilgrims and their coaches.

How the day goes

  1. The Alta Via del Parco lifts you out of the sanctuary basin straight away.
  2. Part of the Frassati path crosses the karst hollow between Tarinello and Tarino.
  3. The summit is open in every direction, and lunch is whatever you carried up.
  4. The ring closes downhill through beech woods instead of retracing the climb.

It is graded for experienced walkers, so it suits people who already hike; the Livata outings are where a first mountain day belongs.
