Arpino On the trail

Walks and canyon descents from the gate of Arpino's cyclopean acropolis

Arpino

The pointed-arch gate of Arpino's cyclopean acropolis stands right beside the farm, and the loop trails leave from it. In the warm months the same base sends people down the streams instead.

How the day goes

  1. Loop paths start at the farm, under the megalithic walls of the acropolis.
  2. Longer outings on the Eastern Ernici, the Melfa gorges and Monte Cairo are arranged on request.
  3. The Contieri and Arimucci streams are the gentle way into a canyon descent.
  4. The Lacerno waterfalls are the descent for people who already know how.

Their site does not say who leads the walks and the descents, so ask on the phone who will be with you.
