Fiuggi

Fiuggi is a town people travel to in order to drink water, and this is where they do it: Luigi Moretti's curved concrete porticoes standing in a park, with fountains along the avenues.

How the day goes

  1. Come in the morning, when the drinking cures run and the avenues fill with regulars.
  2. Fill a glass at the fountains and walk the loops between the porticoes.
  3. Sit under Moretti's curves — architects make the drive out here for the buildings alone.
  4. Fiuggi Alta, the old town on the hill above, for lunch afterwards.

Nobody swims here: this is a park you walk and drink in, and the pools are over at Viterbo or Stigliano.
