Piediluco

Piediluco is a still lake, and the Marmore is what happens to it downstream. The walk follows that water from one to the other, which is also the order the Romans forced onto it.

How the day goes

  1. Start at the lake, quiet early, with the village strung along the shore.
  2. The path climbs through woods above the channel, out of sight of the road.
  3. You reach the falls from behind, on the side most visitors never see.
  4. Small group the whole way, with a guide who lives on this water.

The interest is the water and how it was made to move, not a view from a car park — and it is a walk with climbing in it.
