There is still farmland behind the Appia Antica, and this is a piece of it that actually works: fields under cultivation, animals to look after, and a vegetable garden that feeds the kitchen.

How the day goes

  1. Out in the vegetable garden and among the animals, doing rather than watching.
  2. Workshops and lessons built around how the food gets grown and the animals kept.
  3. They cook what the farm produces, and that is what ends up on the table.

The programme is written for Roman school groups, so a family should ask first whether they take individual bookings.
