Bagnaia On the trail

Vignola's water garden at Bagnaia, walked with a guide

Bagnaia

The water starts as a spring at the top of the garden and you walk down beside it: terraces, cascades, dripping grottoes, and a square pool waiting at the bottom.

How the day goes

  1. Meet the guide at Bagnaia, in front of the villa Vignola built for cardinal Gambara.
  2. Start at the top, where the stream comes straight out of the rock.
  3. Follow it down the slope, through the terraces, the cascades and the grottoes.
  4. It settles in the square basin of the Fontana dei Mori, at the foot of the garden.

The guide is booked and paid for separately from the entrance ticket, so ring the infoline and arrange her before you travel.
