Family rafting down the Velino into Rieti

This descent ends where the via Salaria crosses the Velino on a Roman bridge, so the last thing you paddle under is older than anything else on the river.

How the day goes

  1. Kit handed out at the start: wetsuit, jacket, buoyancy aid, helmet, paddle.
  2. Into the raft with the guide, downstream on easy water.
  3. Under the Roman bridge and out in the middle of Rieti.

You will be wet through by the end, so bring the trainers, swimsuit and towel the operator asks for; everything else comes from them.
