Alatri On the trail

Alatri's civic museum and the Christ in the Labyrinth fresco

Alatri

In the church of San Silvestro, Christ stands inside a painted labyrinth. Nobody has found another like it in Europe, and the same ticket opens Alatri's civic museum as well.

How the day goes

  1. Start at the civic museum, then walk down to San Silvestro on the same ticket.
  2. The fresco is the reason to come: a labyrinth, and Christ standing in the middle of it.
  3. Outside the museum circuit, the megalithic walls and gates of the acropolis are open at any hour.

The museum keeps a weekly rest day, and on that day the cyclopean walls are what is left, which is a different sort of visit.
