The abbey Saint Dominic built on Cicero's villa, open every day in Sora

Sora

Cicero's family had a villa on this bank of the Liri. A Benedictine abbey went up on top of it, and the crypt underneath still stands on the columns the builders raised.

How the day goes

  1. The church is open right through the day and asks nothing but that you walk in.
  2. Down in the crypt the columns are the original ones, plain and close together.
  3. Mass times are posted on the door, and the visit works around them.
  4. The Liri runs past outside, which is why the abbey is where it is.

No guided visit is offered, so it suits someone happy to look and read rather than be told.
