The park of Veio starts where Rome stops: Etruscan country just past the last of the city on the Cassia. This yard lives on trail riding rather than on lessons in a school.

How the day goes

  1. Out to Isola Farnese, on the Cassia, with the city behind the first ridge.
  2. Into the park at a walk, western saddle, certified guide out in front.
  3. Longer days finish at a farm restaurant, or with a packed lunch under the trees.
  4. Ask about the shuttle: they run one from the airports and the stations.

The riding here is western: if you want an English saddle and a covered school, this is the wrong yard.
