Sacrofano

The Veio park is tufa gorges, oak wood and streams cut deep below the fields, and the tracks through it were made by horses before anything else. The centre sits at Monte Sughero, right inside it.

How the day goes

  1. Saddle up at the centre and drop straight into the wood behind it.
  2. Down the tufa tracks at a walk, water somewhere below, light broken by oaks.
  3. Up onto the fields to finish, with Rome under the horizon to the south.
