Natural horsemanship starts on the ground, not in the saddle: you learn to ask, and the horse decides whether the ask made sense. Ciampacavallo has been doing it in the Appian Way park for a long time.

How the day goes

  1. Meet the instructors and the horse, with a rope in your hand and nothing else.
  2. Work on the ground first: how you stand, where you look, when to stop asking.
  3. Into the saddle once the horse is with you, under the pines of the park.

If you want to get on and ride out straight away, this is the slower door in.
