The Falvaterra caves, the easy route

Falvaterra

A river runs through the hill at Falvaterra, and the easy route walks alongside it: rapids, small falls, and then the dry part of the cave where the concretions are white.

How the day goes

  1. In with a guide at the natural monument, on a path with gentle gradients and no steps.
  2. Beside the underground river where it runs loudest, past the small waterfalls.
  3. Up into the fossil branch, where the white formations come close enough to see properly.
  4. Out into the Sacco valley again, dry, with the rest of the day still to spend.

The path is level enough for a wheelchair, so nobody gets left at the entrance; if you came to get wet, the blue and green routes wade the same river.
