Ariccia
A Bernini bridge, a Bernini square, and the town Romans drive to for lunch.
11 days outthe nearest is a 41 min drive from Rome
Ariccia is where the Appian Way crosses a ravine on a monumental viaduct, and the square at the far end was laid out by Bernini around the Chigi palace and its church. The palace interior is one of the very few Roman baroque houses still furnished as it was.
It is also where the porchetta comes from, and the fraschette below the square exist for exactly that. The park behind the palace runs down towards the lake.
